Breeders Cup Classic 2007

The $5 million Breeders Cup Classic 2007 is being run today October 27 2007. It is being hosted by Monmouth Park in Oceanport New Jersey. The race is 1 1/4 miles long and begins at 5:35 pm. You can see it on TV on ESPN.
Forecasts are for a wet track, which may aid one of the favorites Hard Spun. Hard Spun came in 2nd in the Kentucky Derby, and won the Kentucky Classic. He will be competing against a very stiff field of 8 other horses – 3 of which are the top 3 Kentucky Derby finishers. First place in the Breeders Cup Classic will be awarded $2.7 million.
Up also for grabs is Horse of the Year honors. The other strong contenders in the race consist of: Street Sense, Curlin (winner of The Preakness), and Lawyer Ron. Lawyer Ron is the pre-race favorite going off at 5-2 odds.
It should prove to be an interesting race.
UPDATE: The winner of the race was Curlin. Congrats to Curlin! With this win, it is now almost a given that Curlin will Horse of the Year honors.
