Cynthiana Kentucky Horses Not Cared For by Couple

Posted on November 3, 2007

Cynthiana Kentucky HorsesThere was an article today in The Lexington Herald-Leader about a Cynthiana Kentucky couple in Harrison County that were arrested on Friday November 2, 2007 for not caring or feeding the 8 horses on their horse farm. The 2 horse farm owners are: Haskell Risner and Dinah Risner, and both were charged with 8 counts of 2nd degree cruelty to animals.

Their bond has been set at $250.

Apparently, officers were tipped off about the care of the horses by a group of individuals that were concerned for the horses well being. The horses were not seized, but photographs were taken of the horse’s condition to document the abuse by the police officers.

The couple faces a penalty of up to 1 year in jail as well as a fine of up to $500.

i know these people very very well and they wouldnt harm their horses. If anything they were just trying to help the horses back to their health. Whoever the people are that turned them in for them supposedly starving their horses needs to worry about themself. These people are very good people and would never do anything to hurt their horses. Its awful that they are even getting accused of this. I think its all a bunch of [garbage]!

I hope you are correct. Conflicting information was presented in that article in the Lexington Herald Leader newspaper: the persons were allegedly arrested, but the horses weren’t seized?!? That just doesn’t make sense. Hopefully they will be absolved of any wrong doing.
