Tips to be returned to the Crown Prince of Dubai from Lexington Kentucky
Posted on October 8, 2007
In The Courier-Journal newspaper in Louisville Kentucky, there was an article today regarding a crown prince for the ruling family of Dubai. The family owns horse farms in central Kentucky, and visits Kentucky regularly to attend the various horse sales that occur at Keeneland in Lexington.
On his most recent trip, the crown prince Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashin al Maktoum left tips for various Blue Grass Airport officials because they provided security for the United Arab Emirates airplanes while they were in Kentucky last month.
Of the 9 envelopes, 3 have been opened with at least $8,000 contained in them. The remaining envelopes haven’t been opened.
It is against state law for the officers to accept the money. The Maktoums have requested that the money be returned.
Bernie Lovely is the airport board chairman and is overseeing the return of the monies to the Maktoums.
Hopefully they understand the policy and won’t take offense to the return of their gifts. Their support for Kentucky horse farms is a welcome addition to our thriving industry.
