Kentucky Dressage Clinic was a success!
Posted on September 4, 2007
The Terry Wright Kentucky dressage clinic this past Labor Day weekend 2007 was a big success! The clinic lasted 3 days and was held at Big Springs Horse Farms in Simpsonville KY, and 8 persons worked on balance for their horses. If a horse is unable to achieve balance without a rider, how are they expected to achieve balance with a rider thrown on top? The simple answer is they can’t.
The sessions began dismounted – and focused on the horse achieving balance in his posture & position, with him standing and then moving through the walk and trot. This gives the horse the opportunity to find his point of balance in each of the various movements. Its much easier to find your balance standing than it is moving with a rider on top.
At the end of the 3 days, everyone made good progress. Jennifer Karlen even got her horse to canter a bit. Granted, he was only in balance for a few steps – but he is well on his way! A big success, and a big thanks to Terry Wright for sharing her insights and expertise.
